Participation
Criteria & Eligibility
To participate, your organization must:
- Be based in or have a division/office of a parent organization located in the National Capital Region (NCR),
- Have at least 30 full-time employees currently located in the NCR,
- Seasonal, contract and other part-time employees actively working while the ECA survey is deployed must participate in the survey.
Note: "Full-time employee" is defined as an individual who must work for the employer on a regular basis in the usual schedule of the employer's business to be considered and is (or will be upon completion of probation) eligible for vacation and benefits coverage.
Organizations are not eligible to participate if:
- The organization has an affiliation with a committee member(s), or
- The organization has been selected as a recipient of the ECA for three (3) consecutive years. Organizations may resume participation after two years.
Organizers retain the right to disqualify an application for a conflict of interest or misinformation provided in the review process.
Participating organizations must complete the employer application form and ensure that the employee opinion survey is completed by a representative sample of employees as outlined in the Methodology section.

To identify the National Capital Region’s top employers based on employee opinions. This approach provides us with an in-depth understanding of what all organizations should know as they meet the business challenges of the future.

Understanding what drives your employees will help you define actions that can lead to sustainable growth and long-term success. Taking action to improve those drivers by participating in this study can move your organization in the right direction.

Free Summary Report
In addition to the benefits listed above, you will receive a free written report. The report will include valuable data on the practices of top employers in the National Capital Region, as well as highlights of all major components of the survey. Additionally, you can also purchase a detailed report which identifies your scores for each and every single question asked in the survey. Moreover, the detailed report provides additional data such as your company’s overall commitment index and a complete verbatim report.
Public Recognition
If selected as an Employees’ Choice Award recipient, your organization will be profiled in Ottawa Business Journal. This will include a photograph and written article about your organization. There is absolutely no charge for this, but companies can choose to leverage the award by purchasing advertising.
You will have the opportunity to showcase what makes your company a leading organization and demonstrate to your employees, potential candidates, shareholders, and other stakeholders that the workplace you have created is one of the most desirable in the National Capital Region and Canada.
Cost
There is no charge to participate in the Employees’ Choice Award survey. All participating organizations will receive an individualized report that summarizes the survey results including benchmark comparison to the Employees’ Choice Award recipients. If you require detailed analysis of your survey responses, you can purchase a detailed report at $500.00, however this is optional.
Note: Participating organizations will be required to commit some resources to coordinate the promotion and completion of the employee opinion survey.
